Concerned about shipping a device?

By MPI Author on Oct 07, 2011 at 01:36 PM in in Mobile Phone Data Recovery and Forensics

Shipping Choices-

AT&T or T-Mobile device-

These devices operate by using what is called a SIM card.  This card is your connection to the network.  If you remove the SIM from your device and install it in a phone operating within the same network your number and any contacts stored on the SIM will transfer over and you will be able to receive your calls as normal.

MPI can examine your device without the original SIM.  We do need some information from the SIM.  There are two numbers we must have, the ICCID (International Circuit Card Identity) and the IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity).  You are able to obtain these numbers from the menu of the phone.

Verizon or any other CDMA device-

CDMA device's typicaly do not use a SIM. We do see them today in the "World Phones" but they are not required when operating in a CDMA network.  Unless the phone you want examined was outside of the United States we do not need this SIM card.

If you need your phone, MPI recommends taking an old CDMA phone and temporarily transfering your number to this old phone.  By doing this you can ship the phone you want examined and not be without cell phone services.  Your provider can assist you with this process.  Each of the providers have their own fees for this, MPI recommends calling the provider to obtain pricing.

MPI attempts to examine and return ship your device within 24 hours of receipt.  There are times when we can not reach this goal, these times are unique.  If you have any questions regarding your device prior to shipping please call 805-310-1790.
